we encountered the climbing celebrity that
is John Dunne. By this time the sky was very grey and not conducive to climbing. The
others were up in the quarry, which had been partially demolished by the council. I told
various people that the great John Dunne was here but some seemed to be unaware of his
celebrity status and so were unimpressed.
Inevitably rain stopped play, and the Yorkshire extravaganza drew to a close. We had had
it large and now the rain had signalled that it was time to return to a more normal
existence, where the beer isn't quite as cheap.
