culties. After these "several" feet climbed, we had some scrambling to do before going down a sort of couloir for which we needed to abseil because of the rather wet ground.

Then, on the way back to the car, we turned around and looked at what we had done. It was like a reward after the effort and even if it's not a high graded route, I was really happy of my first real rock-climbing.


After this, we went down the pub to meet Gary, Dave and Charles who, God knows why, had climbed a waterfall (!!!) just beside our route. Maybe Wales is not wet enough…? They were well settled in the pub, planning

Gary explained to us how to get there several times during the evening and, paradoxically, when the time had come to go there, we had a few difficulties in finding it… As for the proper climbing of the chimney, some other people are better placed to speak about it for I refused to do it at the last minute (and I don't regret it!).


The day after, my life as a French assistant in England started again after an eleven-day-break.
