pens we will probably ignore it anyway.

Email addresses
We are slowly being dragged into the 20th century.  If you have an email address, and would like other members of the HMC to know it, please sent it to Phil at:  secretary@herts-mc.swinternet.co.uk

For details of the HMC Web page address, please see the back of Crux.

Regards,    Albert Sillwood

ideas for future indoor meets or events, please pass them on to Anne.

A big thank you also goes to Charles White, for organising the Hut & Camping meets over the last two years.  Bill Burt has now taken on this role for the next two years (did we tell you it was for 2 years).
If you have any ideas for future huts & camp sites, or other places to go, please pass them on to Bill.
(Bosigran was over subscribed but we managed).

A thank you goes to Stephan for looking after the needs of the climbers last year, especially their equipment needs.  Stephan has stood down this year due to work circumstances.  Unfortunately no one at the AGM was able to commit to taking on the climbing sec role.  However we have now co-opted Gary Bebb onto the Committee as the climbing sec.  Please contact Gary, or Phil for all thoughts about places to go climbing.

Member of the Year,  1998-99
The Tankard for member of the year was awarded to Gary Bebb, for his enthusiasm, and attending a lot of meets over the past years.  Gary is also a good climber, organising a trip to Morocco next year, and trying for his MLC.

HMC Membership Card & Discounts
I would like to mention that the HMC membership card is actually useful, and could get you a discount, if presented to staff in most Climbing & Walking shops.
For example, Countryside in Stevenage will give 10% off, if you show the HMC card..

How did you find out about the HMC, and was it easy
We would appreciate feedback as to how easy (or difficult) it was to find out about the HMC.  Are we advertising in the right places?  Are there any other places we could put an HMC Poster, or details of the club.
Please pass all reasonable suggestion to Albert, Phil or any member of the Committee.

Car Stickers
There are a few HMC Car stickers available from Phil the sec.  Useful if you need to find out which pub people are in on the meets,  or even if you have arrived at the correct hut.  We have yet to have an irate call saying someone with an HMC sticker has cut them up on the way to Wales, but if it hap

Get off your bed and climb!

Why are parents always right? "Don't fall off, don't hurt yourself". Oh poo!  It is only a climbing wall and not a great one at that. However, beware my friends, walls not only have ears but they bite. Yet, another freak accident finds me languishing on my bed bandaged and requiring crutches, just in time for a trip to Wales. Doh!

If only I could boast of a heroic ascent, falling from the crux of some desperate E4, but no. I dropped onto a crash mat and dislocated my ankle. Bouldering has a lot to answer for! You don't end up like this on a rope, but I suppose it's just the price you pay for hard training.
