lowed, I'm reliably informed that the exposure on the pinnacle was extreme.

Shortly before the pinnacle (An Stac) the posse suffered a small accident when Chris was hit on the head by some loose rock from above (Charles "I'm not insured for this" White had nothing to do with the incident).  Chris (the only one not wearing a helmet) was a little shocked and grazed but fortunately ok. It was at this point the rest of the posse decided to descend from the ridge back down to Glen Brittle.

Phil managed to hitch the 10 miles back from Glenn Brittle to the Sligachan Hotel within 30 minutes.  I then collected everybody and we drove back to the hotel tired and disappointed we had left the Cuillin ridge UNFINISHED.

not be long before they too are drinking from fuel bottles.

It is also my belief that in a few years perhaps, we may see new frontiers in climbing and I don't think it would be outrageous of me to predict that the HMC may see routes above severe climbed regularly. But enough of my dreaming.

And so, as the pioneers of old such as myself hang up our hemp ropes and plimsolls we look forward to a 'new age' in Hertfordshire Mountaineering.

Committee

Sir Gladys

So, you think the club runs itself?

Suprisingly enough it doesn't, there are 6 committee members who see to the smooth running of the club.
The current committee consists of Albert, Phil, Jane, Anne, Bill, and Gary.

Some us us have been on the committee far longer than we intended and so will be standing down at the next AGM in April.

So how do you get onto the committee?

Well you stand  at the AGM and if you're not too disagreeable you may get enough votes to be duly elected. The senior positions of Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer can only be held by those who currently or previhave held any committee position.

So what does the committee do?

We organise everything from BMC insurance, club discounts, Crux , Web Site, publicity material, HMC library, Talks & Slide Shows , to the Annual Dinner, Barbecues, Bangers & Mash XMAS party  and weekend meets.

What should you do next?

Talk to any of the committee members about their roles in more detail. If you are still interested then put yourself up for election at the AGM in April.

Your club needs you!

It is my pleasure, as one of the founding members of this great and historic club to welcome wholeheartedly the recent influx of new members into the club. It is not before time, in my view, that the HMC should see a renewed and healthy interest in its activities.

It gladdens me more to learn of so many younger people being drawn into the fold. I sincerely hope that their youth and vigour will bring a new spark of vitality to the drinking sessions and I am sure it will
